(May 10, 2002)-Hello Rust-Heads, its been a couple of weeks and there's been a lot of wrestling stuff to talk about so lets get the ball rolling.

First lets talk about the Backlash Pay-Per-View, for those that didn't read my predictions on this PPV I had no real clue as to where the WWF was gonna go with the matches and the story-line. Out of the ten matches that I did make predictions on I got only five right, but if I would've gone with my "Who I would let win" predictions and not trying to think what and where the WWF was go with things, I would've got 8 out 10. Oh well maybe next time I do predictions I'll let my balls drop and go with what I would do instead what I think WWF will do. Overall I enjoyed the PPV simply because I couldn't guess what was gonna happen. Kidman and Tajiri wrestled a great match; the crowd was even cheering Kidman. I hope this bodes well for the Cruiserweight Division but only time will tell. The Cruiserweight division has a lot of potential.

Next on the list is the WWF Cruiserweight Division. Remember the Light Heavyweight Division? I certainly do. Do you remember when the WWF officially announced that Light Heavyweight Division is no more? Well then you probably remember when they announced that old WCW Cruiserweight Championship well now be known as the WWF Cruiserweight Championship? You don't remember this you say? That's because they never said that. They never came out and simply said "The WWF has dropped the Light Heavyweight Title is favor of the old WCW (now renamed WWF) Cruiserweight Championship." Why couldn't they tell us that? Do they think the fans are too stupid to remember the Light Heavyweight Title? My answer to this is yes, they do think we're too stupid to remember back 6 months ago when X-Pac was carrying the LHW Belt around his waste.

I know many of you are saying "Scott it's only the LHW Belt! Who cares?" Well I care. As wrestling fans we know what we're getting into. Yes wrestling is fake, yes wrestling is really just a big athletic soap opera catering to mostly men, yes wrestling is sometimes stupid and yes wrestling is also very fun and exciting to watch. All these things are true but what bothers me is the overall continuity of the story. I can remember back six months ago and so can many other fans. All I'm asking is take five minutes (or less) out of one of the many weekly shows and explain why and how the WWF Cruiserweight came to be. Is that really so much to ask for? Don't we the fans deserve that much? I think we do. The only reason I know what happened is because the WWF finally put an explanation up on their website. You can check the site out by going to www.wwftitlehistory.com and clicking on the Cruiserweight section.

In other news for those that don't know about it yet the WWF is no more. But don't you wrestling fans worry because you now have the WWE. That's World Wrestling Entertainment or the WWE as it well be called from now on. The World Wrestling Federation (WWF) had to change their name due to a lawsuit filled by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). As of Monday the WWF (now WWE) started there new campaign called "Get the F' out" to kick off the new name the WWE. Now that the WWF is called the WWE hopefully the people confusing the two won't have this problem anymore. My question is who the hell ever got these two companies confused?

Just a couple more notes to pass on. For those that don't know both Scott Hall and Mr. Perfect (Curt Hennig) were released earlier this week by the WWE. Apparently both men got into trouble off camera, with only one big company to wrestle for you would think these guys would have been on better behavior. Well maybe this will help the struggling World Wrestling All-Stars. I can see it now Scott Hall vs. Road-Dogg Jesse James in a Painkiller and Alcohol on a pole match. Wow wouldn't that be exciting. Well Marks I'm out of here, next week I will be looking at the Judgement Day PPV card and I will give you my world famous predictions.

-Scott

Scott is the Couch Pirates own wrestling expert analyst. He runs an action figure wrestling league (the AFWA) and is a founding member of the EFW (he also created both sites, check them out). After you read Ring Rust, you'll never watch wrestling the same way again!
